LASIK Procedure for CAPF(AC)
Hello Friends, I have seen people having numerous doubts regarding LASIK surgery while applying for various government jobs. I, myself had doubt regarding the procedure while preparing for Central Armed Police Force(Assistant Commandant) Examination.
I am writing this post as I have gone through the Medical Fitness Test and qualified for CAPF(AC) interview in 2019. Though this post is written from my experience of CAPF(AC), same will also be helpful for doubts related to LASIK for Indian Police Service.
After successfuly qualifying Physical Standard Test and Physical Efficiency Test candidates are sent for medical examination. For medical examination, candidates are provided a form in which they have to mention few details regarding their medical history.
There is a separate mention of LASIK surgery where you have to click in Yes or No box. I would suggest to be truthful and tick the Yes box if you have undergone LASIK surgery. Good doctor can easily make out that you have done LASIK and she may disqualify you then and there only.
It is therefore clear from the notification itself that LASIK surgery is allowed for CAPF(AC) provided you fulfill certain criteria.
People having eye power ranging from +4.00 D to -4.00D with or without LASIK are allowed to appear for the interview. Just to elaborate, you will not be rejected even if you have spectacles after LASIK surgery, provided your eye power after LASIK surgery is within the range -4.00D to +4.00D.
People who have not undergone LASIK surgery but have spectacles will be asked to produce doctors prescription showing eye power of the spects they would be wearing during medical fitness tests. They will undergo few tests where they will be asked to read a text on the wall, doctor will check their eyes through machine. as shown below. You dont need to worry about this as it is routine check up as you have already done in any eye clinic.
First condition for LASIK surgery is that, there should be gap of at least 6 months between date of LASIK operation and date of medical examination.
For candidates who have undergone LASIK procedure, they will also undergo normal eye check up with other candidates as mentioned above. In addition, there are two tests; Pachymetry and Axial Length which are also done. As CAPF hospitals do not have necessary infrastructure for conducting this tests, candidates will be sent to a private hospital assiciated with the CAPF hospital or you will be asked to get these tests done from any private hospital and produce the certificate.
More about these two tests:
If you want to make things crystal clear, I would suggest you to visit any private eye hospital preferably LASIK centre and get these tests done before appearing for medical fitness test. These tests together should cost you around 1500 rs.
If you qualify all these criteria then you will clear Medical Tests on the same day but if you fail due to eye or some other reason you still have opportunity to appear before Medical Examination Board.
All the Best !!!
